A good vocabulary is essential. The verbal sections of the SAT and GRE account for 50 percent of the overall score. It measures a student’s knowledge of thousands of college-level words, any of which may appear on a given exam. A student can not rely solely on a good math score. In order to achieve the overall test score colleges and universities demand, a student must do well on both test sections.

The more words studied the better the results. Many tutors and study books focus on about 1,500 or less frequently occurring vocabulary words. While this is enough to produce higher scores, the well-prepared student should be familiar with many more. The 3,000 words used in the Easy-Prep vocabulary system are the result of a sophisticated computer analysis of previous SAT and GRE exams as well as other standardized college-level exams.

We collected more than 7000 of the most common words that appear on these tests. MyVerbal.com is a website where students can learn vocabulary using different tools (and books).

The books are provided as based on the needs of our students. In New Jersey State, USA, these books serve as reference books for middle to high school students. We have provided books to serve as reinforcement, aiding memorization of vocabulary. Your children will be able to practice anywhere, anytime, even if the Internet is not available. We see the books as a perfect complement to the online study.

MyVerbal.com will be publishing books in the future. In the meantime, our approach has been to collect 2000 frequently used words and divide them into three books, one each to be used in studying for the TOEFL, the SAT, and the GRE (with the GRE being the most difficult). Thus, not only will subscribers be able to study online, they will be able to study anywhere they take these books with them.

On those websites listed above, you can only search for the words or find their meanings. On the other hand, MyVerbal.com not only provides you with the meaning of the word but it also generates various types of quizzes that will assist the student in memorizing the word. To reiterate, to improve your test score it is critical that you memorize about 7000 words as your foundation. Our part is to provide you with the necessary tools to aid in that memorization.

To repeat, when the program is fully functional, MyVerbal.com will provide 7000+ words for flashcard, multiple choice practices and 365 wordmatch quiz sets. We also narrow down practice by books such as “vocabulary workshop level A – H”. In each of these books you will have 100 wordmatch quizzes to practice. We also plan to implement online testing for antonyms, analogies, and other areas that students can work to improve their verbal skills in the near future.
